Familial joint laxity and recurrent dislocation of the patella.

چکیده
Recurrent dislocation of the patella probably has several causes. In many patients abnormal laxity of the knee is present and this may predispose to dislocation (Dc Palma 1954). A family has come to our notice in which three members suffered recurrent dislocation of the patella and a fourth had probably sustained a single dislocation. All the former had abnormally lax knees and most other joints showed similar hypermobility. Five other living members of the family were also “double jointed” but had not suffered dislocation. The particular interest of the patients we shall describe lies in the association of familial joint laxity with recurrent dislocation of the patella.

The rotational alignment tヲfthe lovver limbs of 24 patients who developed r巴currentdislocation of the patella were measured by means of computed axial tomography. The femoral anteversion and the external rotation of the knee joint of these patients respectively showed 31.9土15.2° and 9.2土6.8° on the average. These figures were significantly larger than those of the control. The average external ...
متن کاملLate results of transfer of the tibial tubercle for recurrent dislocation of the patella.
The authors wished to determine the late results of the Hauser operation, with special reference to the development of osteoarthritis. Predisposing factors associated with recurrent dislocation of the patella were also investigated. Thirty-five patients with forty-four surgically treated knees attended for review, ten to twenty-five (average sixteen) years after operation. Two patients had subs...
متن کاملLateral release for recurrent dislocation of the patella.
We reviewed 41 knees after arthroscopic lateral release for recurrent dislocation of the patella at a mean follow-up of four years, and graded the results according to the criteria of Crosby and Insall (1976). There were no dislocations after operation in 28 knees (68%); the less satisfactory results were in patients with subluxation of the patella on extension of the knee and those with genera...

This is a report of a 17-year-old wrestler who had suffered from a sport injury during an international competition that led to recurrent shoulder dislocation. Physical examination showed that he had a severe ligamentous laxity. In the magnetic resonance images there were combined humeral avulsion of the glenohumeral ligament (HAGL) and Bankart lesions. Combination of Bankart and HAGL lesions, ...
متن کاملPatellofemoral ligament reconstruction in a patient with Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome.
Recurrent dislocation of patella may occur in patients with ligament laxity. Method of treatment in this condition is controversial but patellofemoral ligament reconstruction is the most accepted method. We present a patient with Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome and recurrent patellar dislocation who managed successfully by patellofemoral ligament reconstruction.
